A Prayer for the RCA

For the past couple of years I have prayed the following prayer for the RCA. I would like others to join me.

Lord, we pray that you would bless the churches of the Reformed Church with

A unity of purpose
A harmony of worship
A heart for mission
A love of God’s word
A joy of service
A hope of heaven
A peace that passes understanding
A compassion for the lost
A dedication for creation
A solidarity against evil
A surety of salvation
A faith sufficient to the storms of life

Dear Pastor Doug: I have downloaded your prayer for the RCA and will use it on a regular basis. The contents could easily be adapted into a full worship Prayer Service. The only thing missing in my estimation is the Doctine of Christ. A church can pray for all the things you have mentioned yet still miss the essential Doctine of Christ as John puts it in his second epistle verses 7 to 11.

Thank you for sharing your heart's prayer for the past years with all of us.

Merry Christmas,
Klaas Detmar

I love your prayer-it is kind and loving.

Please add the following to your prayer list:
An unconditional acceptance of others who believe differently than I do.

Christ showed love to many people who did not understand or believe in his preachings. May the world live in peace.
